Description
Amelia Peabody, that indomitable Victorian, embarks on her first Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal to record her thoughts, and her sturdy umbrella. On her way, Amelia rescues a young woman and helps her elude her rascally lover.
This first journal of the fabulous Amelia Peabody describing her adventures in Victorian Egypt introduces the incredibly popular series. Susan O'Malley isn't Barbara Rosenblat, narrator of the series for Recorded Books--but get over it. The harumphing may not be so forceful from Radcliffe Emerson in this O'Malley reading, but the indomitable Amelia Peabody carries the listener along as easily as she carries her umbrella. Visitations of moaning mummies and other horrific occurrences befall the lovely Evelyn, the dashing Emerson brothers, and Miss Peabody herself, as they excavate together for the first time. B.H.B.
